Nothing can bring more tropical vibes to your home more than an areca palm tree. Palm trees are outdoor plants but now they are widely used as indoor plants as they are very easy to grow and easily available. They are widely used as decorative indoor plants and their lush foliage helps in removing toxins from the environment. Their maintenance is not very difficult but if not taken care of well they will start losing their beauty and their tips will start getting dry and pointed.

Plant care

  • Areca Palms enjoys moist soil but they are sensitive to overwatering and react negatively when they are waterlogged. Water your plant after the soil starts getting a little dry. Avoid using fluoridated water as areca palms are sensitive to it. Use distilled water or collected rainwater for better results.
  • For indoor areca palm use a well-draining and peat-based potting mix for best results
  • These plants like bright sunlight and they can tolerate full sunlight also. But in the very bright hot sun they should be protected otherwise it will scorch the foliage.
  • Feed your areca palm from spring to early fall with liquid fertiliser heavily, as per the label instructions. Avoid feeling plant when it is dormant during the late fall and winter months
  • Maintain your beautiful areca palm with the right amount of sunlight and water with a good amount of fertilisers when needed and you’re ready to go to flaunt your beautiful plant.

Areca palm houseplants are normally purchased as little tabletop plants because they are rather expensive when fully grown. Each year, they grow 6 to 10 inches (15 to 25 cm) until they reach a mature height of 6 or 7 feet (1.8 or 2.1 m.). The Areca palm is one of the few palms that can be pruned without causing major damage, allowing mature plants to be kept indoors for up to ten years. Providing exactly the correct quantity of light is crucial to successfully growing areca palm palms inside. They require bright, indirect light from a window facing south or west. In direct sunshine, the leaves turn yellowish-green.
